Safety requirements for applications of electrical equipment – Part 2: Safety measures for operation under power off conditions

Three, terminology,

(a) Lockout tagout: Lockout and tagout prompt on the energy isolator switch to prevent accidental release of energy before equipment overhaul, maintenance, maintenance, cleaning and other work.

(II) Hazard area: within the three-dimensional space of the equipment, the position where the movement of moving parts or materials of the equipment may cause injury.

(3) Energy sources: energy that may endanger personnel, such as common points, compressed air, nitrogen, gas, gravity, elastic force, pressure water, hydraulic pressure and steam.

(4) Energy isolation device: device which can physically prevent the release or transmission of power, including but not limited to the following devices: manually operated electrical circuit breaker; Manual operated safety switch; Valves on pipes (locking on pipe valves is not a substitute for blind operation), plugs, and other similar devices that block or isolate power sources. (Pushbuttons, selector switches and other similar controls shall not be used as power isolators)

(5) Authorized employees: refers to the employees who perform the service or maintenance operation of the machine and equipment and who carry out the lockout and tagout, they must be qualified and authorized employees who have been trained and checked by the lockout tagout.

(VI) Affected Employees: Employees who operate or need to perform work in the vicinity of the Equipment being serviced or maintained by Lockout or Tagout.

Provisions for electrical isolation

Power off and lock the device at source; E.g. at the power distribution source of equipment, facilities and installation systems;

Signal isolation is a special form of electrical isolation, which is completed in the form of isolation and bypass.
