Lockout Tagout – Check before work

Before starting work, the staff needs
Verify that appropriate permits and certifications are in place
Make sure the controller is locked out tagout
Start the device to confirm the isolation is valid
The hazard has been isolated or removed (e.g., by releasing energy or materials and observing pressure gauges, mirrors or level indicators to confirm that the hazard has been removed or properly blocked; Confirm that the component is disconnected and the rotating device has stopped.)
The power lead is disconnected and no voltage is tested

Lockout tagout – shift

The operator and team leader must inform the shift changers of the current status of work
Shift changers should identify each isolation point with a copy of work permit, isolation certificate, equipment isolation plan and energy isolation sheet
