Execute locked
Standard operating procedures (Sops) for completing Lockout Tagout operations.
Prepare locks according to Lockout Tagout standard operating procedures.
Complete hazard assessment form.
Locks use group or individual lock types.
Lock locks (collective or individual locks, depending on locking type chosen) to all energy isolation devices (valves, blinds, partition valves, motion limiting devices, etc.) identified in the locking sOPS.
If the energy isolation device cannot be locked, use tag out for energy control.
If electrical Lockout tagout is required, ensure that qualified personnel are authorized (electrician to complete electrical Lockout tagout)
All devices that do not need to be locked in a job should be tagged with a numbered tag out that says “Tagged out”. The vent hole and drain port tag out are usually open to confirm that the inside is empty.
The principal authorizes the employee to list each Lockout tagout device on the Hazard Isolation Form and to verify that locks and tags are installed.
All other workers or interested parties must attach their individual locks to the collective lockbox.
Notify affected employees that the device will be shut down and Lockout tagout will be performed.
Lockout tagout must be validated.
