No Lockout/tagout cases required
1. Power is provided by electrical sockets and/or air quick cutters, and
2. Staff sole control of electrical sockets and/or quick air cutters when performing tasks on machine facilities, and
3. No potential storage or residual energy (capacitors, high pressure gas, etc.)
or
A. All exposed hazardous energy sources are controlled by a device (e.g., stop/safety system), and
B. Each employee can achieve a single control when performing tasks on the machine facilities, and
C. The startup procedure requires more than one step, for example, the device cannot be easily restarted (stop – safety button can be considered for more than one step).
Circumstances that require Lockout/tagout
A. Maintenance tasks need to be carried out across shifts, or
B. Multiple employees perform different tasks at the same time on the machine facility, or
C. The Contractor performs work on the Facility, or
D. All exposed hazardous energy without device controls (e.g., stop/safety systems), or
E. Each employee shall not be in sole control of the machine during the performance of work tasks on the machine facility, or
F. Start the program in one step, and the device can be started at will (stop – the safe button is considered to require multiple steps).
