How to prevent accidental startup of equipment with reasonable compliance? In fact, this issue has long been an international standard, namely Safety of Machinery — Prevention of Unexpected Startup ISO 14118, which is currently updated to 2018 edition. There is also a corresponding national standard GB/T 19671-2005 Machinery safety to prevent accidental start
In the past, the operation state and stop state of equipment were relatively clear, the boundary between the state is clear, but in recent years, with the improvement of automation, the boundary between the operation/motion and stop/rest state is increasingly blurred, difficult to define, the number of accidents caused by the accidental start of equipment increased significantly. There are many reasons for the accidental startup of the equipment. It may be caused by the failure of the control loop, or it may be caused by the unwitting startup of the equipment by external personnel and the accidental injury of internal personnel.
How do I prevent unexpected device startup
Energy isolation
Isolation devices should be used to isolate energy in cases where unexpected movement may occur after energy recovery. For electrical equipment, the common way is to use load switches to effectively cut off the energy. Pneumatic circuit or hydraulic circuit can also be equipped with shutoff valve.
At the same time, the manual isolation device shall be equipped with padlock capability to prevent others from restoring the switch to the top power/air position by mistake. The Lockout/Tagout process is very popular on the factory side right now.
Protection device
Interlocking devices are useful for areas that require frequent access, where power and gas are easily cut off and Lockout/Tagout is obviously impractical. The interlocking device judges whether the protective door is opened or not through the locking tongue or induction form, and thus interlocks the key movement and energy of the equipment through the control loop, so that the equipment can be “safely suspended” rather than “completely flamed out”.
